BRIAN FRANKLIN SEIDLER December 27, 1952 - June 22, 2005 Celebrating a Life Lived After a courageous battle with Cancer, Brian passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on June 22 at the St. Boniface Hospital in St. Boniface, MB. Brian grew up in Giroux, MB. He later moved to Winnipeg where he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Winnipeg. Brian possessed a multi-faceted character that allowed him to be equally comfortable in philosophical debate or engaged in the very technical aspects of mechanical engineering. It was in the field of mechanics were he spent his last years working for Great West Life in Winnipeg and developing many strong friendships. The family thanks his coworkers who supported and visited him during his illness. Although he was a very private person, Brian had a passion for reading, fishing and most of all, playing baseball for the Giroux Athletics and fastball with the Ste Anne Saints. It was through their annual fishing trip that Brian kept a close relationship with brother Wayne, the late Dennis Thomson, Rob Sim and Leonard Broesky. He also gained much respect and many friends throughout his baseball career spanning over 37 year with the Athletics. He was a ferocious competitor and invested in his sports the same quest for excellence as he did in all aspects of his life. He was pleased to have been visited in his last days by some of those baseball friends, most notably Henry Turenne, Brian and Rob Sim, Dennis Wiebe, John Hindle and Rick Hefford. Brian is survived by his mother Margaret; sisters, Darlene, Linda (Brennan) and Beverly (Dave); brothers, Roy (Michelle), Wayne (Connie), Russell (Teresa) and Garry (Connie); nieces, Natalie, Corinne, Christine, Tara and Alora; and nephews, Stacey, Kurt, Gregg, Travis, Jarrett and Trevor. Many thanks to all our family and friends for their kind thought and prayers. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their professional and empathetic care. The family especially thanks Dr. Janice Mulder, Dr. Lipinski and Hope Holland. A celebration of Brian's life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27 at the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 701 Regent Avenue West (at Brewster). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any cancer research institution or initiative. The boundaries which divide life from death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where one ends, and the other begins? Edgar Alan Poe WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 701 REGENT AVE. AT BREWSTER 224-1525

  • No one's ever truly gone, For they are always with you. Watching and helping with, Everything you do. All those times you whisper, "I love you" to the air, Know that they are listening, And know that they are there. They fly only beyond your sight, In a kingdom free of pain, And when you have to leave this world, You shall see them once again. Always remembered, Love, Garry, Connie and Alora - Posted by: Garry Seidler (Family) on: Jul 03, 2005

  • The Seidler family wishes to express our deepest gratitude for all those who attended Brian's Memorial Service on June 27th. We thank all of our friends & family for their thoughts, prayers, flowers, gifts and sympathy cards. We especially enjoyed our conversations with B's co-workers at GWL & old fishing and baseball buddies. We know B would have been pleased with the service and maybe even embarrassed at the outpouring of love and affection. He was probably saying "This is all for me?".
