DAVID ALLAN ROSS January 10, 1940 - June 23, 2005 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather David, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Dave is survived by his loving wife Iris; sons, Brad (Kathy), Bryan (Elaine), Brent (Tarya); and grandchildren, Alex, Cara, Ethan and Sydney. He is also remembered by siblings, Doris (Fred), John (Linda), Eileen (Alvin); and numerous nephews and nieces. Dave was born to John and Doris (both deceased) of Winnipeg and moved to Transcona shortly thereafter where he established his roots. He attended Transcona Collegiate, receiving the Governor General Award upon graduating. Scholastically gifted, he then went on to the University of Manitoba, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, followed by a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Thereafter, Dave embarked upon a 31-year career with the City of Winnipeg in a civil engineering capacity, spearheading a number of significant municipal divisions. An active part of the community, Dave was also a member and past president of the Transcona Jaycees. However, Dave's greatest joy came from the time spent with his family. A father and husband first, Dave devoted countless hours to his sons' sporting activities, both as a spectator and a coach. He also designed and built a cabin on Pinawa Bay, from which the family has many cherished memories of summer weekends spent together. A particular highlight was the annual lawn dart tournament where Dave's love of bonding with family and friends was reflected in his smile and contagious laughter. In more recent years, Dave and Iris enjoyed their annual winter getaway with Doris and Fred to various hotspots. Dave (Boo) also shared a special bond with grandson Alex, holding season tickets to all his sporting events. His granddaughter Sydney pushed arrival up seven weeks so that she and grandpa would have the opportunity to meet. A memorial service will be held at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28. Honorary pallbearers - Fred, Joe, Jason, Darren, Curtis and Karla (Dave's nephews and niece). Family interment to follow at a later date. Donations to the Children's Wish Foundation can be made in lieu of flowers. Dad, words can't express how much you will be missed. We will think of you often and love you forever.

  • Iris and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you mourn Dave. I remember Dave as an outgoing, handsome man who had the love of a cousin I admired so much. Bradley was just a baby when I lived in Winnipeg and his dad loved being a dad right from the start. Your memories of Dave will always be yours, nothing can separate you from him. • Sending my sincere sympathy. Just found out today that Dave was ill and see his obituary posted. I will not be able to attend the funeral as my oldest daughter's graduation is the same day in Thompson. I will never forget how kind and caring he was when my Mom passed away a little over a year ago. Dave was such a wonderful person, he will be truly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Rhonda Cook (Friend) on: Jun 25, 2005
