ELIZABETH (BETTY) PATRICIA SCOTT September 25, 1919 - June 23, 2005 On Thursday, June 23, 2005, when the rest of the world was rousing to start a fast paced day on hectic streets, our wife, mother, grandmother and friend Elizabeth Scott choose instead a quiet road to a place of eternal peace. It is with great sadness that we announce her passing but we rejoice in having had her in our lives. Betty was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg and although she travelled extensively this was always home. She loved her large family, all her eight sisters and brothers and her husband's family too. She had a special love and bond to daughter Penny and her grandchildren, Catherine and Connor but her deepest love and devotion was always for her partner and soul mate, Joe, her husband of nearly 63 years. Bet, as her brother Lawrence used to call her, was truly a creative and talented person. She could design and sew anything from clothing to drapes to hats even children's fashions, a talent she passed on to her adult students as well as being exceptionally gifted at cake decoration which she both practiced and taught for many years in the Seven Oaks School Division. She had a talent for oil painting and her pieces are in the homes of friends and family and the different organizations she was part of. She also found time to be involved in the community in a spectrum of activities that ranged from being the president of the PTA to planning and implementing neighbourhood celebrations. Also, she had an ability in the kitchen to create cuisine that still generates to those who enjoyed both the food and the company she shared with them. Her greatest gift was that of truly being herself. Betty was a person of passion and with that came an incredible ability to laugh and enjoy life. Learning and sharing what she had learned were also hallmarks of her personality and even in her 70s she was still taking classes to further her artistic talents. Our Betty will be deeply missed and, even after the many years she struggled and bravely dealt with debilitating illness, her true beauty and strengths will never be diminished to those she leaves behind. Special thanks are extended from Joe and Penny to all those who helped and supported them and Betty through the last while especially grandchildren, Catherine and Connor, and her much cherished in-laws, Mike and Tom Mazur, also all of Joe's family members for their thoughtfulness, especially his sister Betty and niece Gloria. A special heartfelt thanks to the staff at Central Park Lodge for all their dedication and kindness. We miss you already. We'll love you forever.
