Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJONAS CARL EINARSON Suddenly, on Sunday, June 26, 2005, Jonas Carl Einarson passed away at the age of 75 years. The middle of eight children, Jonas was born on January 27, 1930 on the family farm at Vatnsnes, MB. On August 21, 1954 he married Shirley Roche, living in Dauphin, Hnausa and Winnipeg until her passing in 1999. In 2002, he realized his dream of moving back to the family homestead. In October 2003 he found happiness again in his marriage to Ollie (Olga) Mahood. He was predeceased by his parents, Halldor and Clara Einarson; wife Shirley and daughter Jolene; brothers, Halli and Gordon; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Josie and Lil; brothers-in-law, Wilfred, Hope William and Arthur; and his nephew Lorne. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Ollie (Olga); daughters, Colleen, Rhonda (Roy Owen) and son Nolan (Sue); grandchildren, Taylor and Trace Owen and Jessica, Chloe and Cole Einarson; stepchildren, Charlene Marks (Glenn), Bev Dubchak, Lyle Dubchak; and grandchildren, Jennifer and Dustin Marks; brothers; Steve (Kathy) and Lawrence; sisters; Gertie (Einar), Ethel (Mundi) and Inga; brothers-in-law, Victor, Gordon, Harold, Lloyd (Jeannette), Walter, Ted (Fran) and Eddie (Ollie); sisters-in-law, Thorunn, Ottoline, Ruth (Asgeir), Phyllis, Rose and Diane (Harry); numerous nieces and nephews and Mugga (Jack). Jonas was employed in Dauphin for a year before moving back to Hnausa to operate the Hnausa General Store. He then began a 33 year accounting career with the Federal Government, first at the Gimli airbase and then in various departments in Winnipeg before retiring in August 1990. Proud of his Icelandic heritage, at age 72 he completed his second and third year university Icelandic language classes with highest marks culminating in a trip to Iceland. Afi enjoyed life and was a big kid at heart playing with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dad could be counted on to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He was very involved in both the church and community. His love of the outdoors was evident in all the family camping trips across Canada and 35 years of annual moose hunts with his friend Claude. Hours of enjoyment were had, kicking up the heels to his favourite dance tunes or relaxing to the sound of his favourite songs. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30 at the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Carol Janke officiating. Interment to follow in the Hnausa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church, Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
