CORA MAY MCEACHERN (nee OSHEL) Cora passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 98 years. Cora was born in Baie St. Paul, MB to Oval and Mary Oshel. The family later moved to the Pilot Mound district where she attended floral school. She married Lorne McEachern in 1929 and they made their home in Pilot Mound. In the early 40s they moved to Treherne. There she was employed by Marshall Wells Hardware. In 1955 they took up residence in Winnipeg and she was employed by Eaton's until her retirement. Cora was very close to all family members and showed interest in all of them. She was an active and much respected member of the Queen Esther Rebekah Lodge. For the past year she has been in a personal care home, and although her sight and hearing had failed, as well as her mobility, until very recently she has been able to carry on a conservation. She was predeceased by her husband Lorne in 1973; and by her sisters, Blanche Lacroix, Ethel Vahl, Alma Popplestone, Pearl Day, Violet Hunter and Laura Wallace; as well as a brother Alva Oshel. She was also predeceased by nieces, Annie Allarie, Beatrice Lacroix, Violet MacDonald, Corinne McClymont and Dahlia Zornes; and by nephews, Floyd Lacroix and Walter Lacroix; as well as by grandnephews, Walter Allarie, James Morgan, and Lucien Lacroix. Left to mourn her passing are nieces, Dahlia Braden, Yvonne Byrka, Doreen Morgan (Ken), nephew Harold Popplestone and their families; as well as many grandnephews and nieces and great-great-nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Vista Park Lodge and Dr. Tomy and nurses at the Victoria Hospital. Also the support of Janet Cutler and Elias Heppner has been much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make a donation in Cora's memory to a charity of one's choice. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception and interment to follow.
