HUGH ALBERT HEGGIE Surrounded by his loving family, Hugh Albert Heggie, aged 81 years, passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Hospital on June 19, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife Joan of 56 years; two daughters, Lois (Harold) Demetzer of Thunder Bay, ON, Janis (Philip) Nemeth of Surrey, BC; and his son John (Colleen) of Winnipeg; five grandchildren, Thomas and Robert Demetzer, Andrew and Megan Nemeth, and Madison Heggie. Our beautiful German Shepherd, Callie, whom Hugh deeply loved misses him so much. He is also survived by two brothers, George Heggie and Joseph White of Winnipeg. Hugh was born in Scotland and came to Canada at an early age. When war broke out he joined the navy when he was seventeen. He had many interesting stories to tell his family. When the war ended, he had achieved the rank of Acting Petty Officer. He was an avid soccer player in his younger days. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix or build. He built a wonderful cottage for his family, where we enjoyed so many happy holidays. Hugh had a diverse working life, going from construction to selling drug store fixtures to life insurance agent. Cremation has taken place and a family memorial service was held in Thunder Bay. Till we meet again sweetheart. You are Safe in the Arms of Jesus. Twilight and Evening Bell, And after that the dark. And may there be no sadness of farewell When I embark. For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The Flood may bear me for, I hope to see my Pilot face to face, When I have crossed the bar. A very special thank you is extended to nurses Kathleen and Paul and Dr. Pereles, who made our burden easier to bear. God bless you. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Hugh's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3.
