NORAH MARY OBERDING (nee McKAY) September 16, 1919 - June 27, 2005 Suddenly, on June 27, 2005 with her family by her side, Norah aged 85 passed away at the Grace Hospital. Norah was predeceased by husband Samuel, parents, two sisters, three brothers, and daughter Lynne. Norah will be lovingly missed by her children, Carol (Ron) Walker, David (Barbara-Jean), Lois (David) Maxwell, Jane (Leo) Hoppe, Nancy (David) Anseeuw, Danny (Dana), Stephen (Susan), and Jennifer (Garry) Koenig. Norah will also be missed by her grandchildren, Wendy, Sharon, Connie, Scott, Kelly, Rob, Carrie-Lee, Leslie-Anne, David, Gardner, Terrie, Laura, Lynne, Tyler, Adam, Melanie, Delaine, Jason, Lindsey, Jesse, Lyndsay, and Kelsey. Norah will also be remembered by her 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bob, Kay, and Doris; son-in-law Myles; extended family and many friends. Norah was born in Winnipeg and was raised in the North End. Attending St. John's High School, she was very involved with many extra curricular activities and was valedictorian of her graduating class. After high school Norah worked with her mother window decorating at Eaton's, as a comptometer operator at The Bay, and as a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance School. Norah loved nature and animals, she was a fine artist and did excellent work in oils, watercolours, and charcoal. Norah was a devoted mother, always putting her family first. She was kind generous and wise always ready to help anybody in need. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre for their care and compassion, and a special thanks to Dr. Taraska. A memorial service will be held on Monday July 4, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Viewing will be one hour prior, and a reception will follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
