NICHOLAS (NICK) YERAMA

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS (NICK) YERAMA Nicholas (Nick) Yerama passed away quietly on the early morning of June 29, 2005 at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre in Dauphin at the age of 96 years young. Nick was predeceased by his father John Yerama in 1913; his mother Alice Kozar in 1965; two brothers; William in 2003 and Peter in 1983; and a sister Helen Mymko in 2004. He was also predeceased by his wife Julia in 1990; two sons, Jerry in 1986 and Edwin in 1956; and a daughter Eileen Gallinger in 1995. Nick was the President of the Greek Orthodox Church in Gilbert Plains when the church was built and on the board for many years. He was on the Board of Directors of the Gilbert Plains (G.P.) Athletic Association when the skating rink was built and served many years on that board. He was on the local Board of the United Grain Growers for many years. He'd been the director of the G.P. Fair Board since early 1946 and served until his passing. He was also a member of the Manitoba Aberdeen Angus Association and a Life Time member of the G.P. Curling Association. Nick started golfing in the 1980s and was still on the course just last summer. He actively drove a car until 2002 and a grain truck and tractor until 1998. Nick is also survived by six sons, Dave (Betty) and Lloyd (Lois) of Dauphin, Sydney (Gladys) of Winnipeg, Lyle (Maureen) of Drayton Valley, AB, Bill and Ken (Linda) of Winnipeg; four daughters, Jane of Winnipeg, Lorraine (Bill) Gulenchin of Ochre Beach, Naomi (Doug) Mahoney of Brandon, Linda Grant (Brian Walwyn) of Surrey, BC; daughter-in-law Sandra of Dauphin; grandchildren, Cynthia (Al) Duncan of Winnipeg, Caren (Andy) Hotchkiss of Houston, TX, Guy (friend Michelle) Yerama, Rory (Courtney) Yerama of Winnipeg, Bill Gulenchin of Winnipeg, Lisa (Kelly) Kaminski of Winnipeg, Jason (Michelle) Gulenchin of Dauphin, Cory (friend Pam) Gulenchin of Dauphin, Dean (Lori) Yerama of Dauphin, Darren (Jessie) Yerama of Farmington, MN, Chris (Jill) Mahoney of Jamestown, ND, Deborah (Dermot) Reynolds of Sayre, PA, Jay Yerama of Edmonton, AB, Robert Yerama of Nagano, Japan; great-grandchildren, Michelle Duncan, Lauren Yerama, Dailen, Jordan and Catherine Kaminski, David and Johnathan Yerama, Noah and Cannon Yerama, Halsae and Michael Mahoney. He is survived by a brother-in-law Steve Mymko of Dauphin; brother Morris (Shirley) Buchy of Kelowna, BC; sisters, May Syrnyk of Dauphin, Nettie Lozinski of Winnipeg, Olive Kotyk of Dauphin, Adeline (Jack) Lauder of Winnipeg. Nick is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Prayers will be offered on Monday evening, July 4 at 7:00 p.m. from the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 5 at 10:00 a.m. from the Gilbert Plains SS. Woldymir and Olha Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Rt. Rev. Fr. Mitred Archpriest N.O. Rauliuk officiated and interment followed in the Gilbert Plains Chatsworth Cemetery. Dobr. Jeanette Rauliuk served as cantor for the services. Pallbearers, Guy Yerama, Chris Mahoney, Dean Yerama, Chris Yerama, Jay Yerama and Cory Gulenchin. Jason Gulenchin is cross-bearer. All of Nick's family and friends may consider themselves honorary pallbearers. Family wishes to thank the nursing staff and Dr. Stecker at the Dauphin Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Dad and Grandpa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the charity of your choice. Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Service had care of the arrangements.
