Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE FAGES March 28, 1913 - June 18, 2005 On Saturday, June 18, 2005, with her daughter and son by her side, Florence Fages peacefully passed away. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander and her sister Adeline. She is survived by her daughter Betty Anne (Earl); son Melvin (Arlene); granddaughters, Shari (Ian) and Pamela; grandsons, Jeffrey (Alison), David and Bryan; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Hannah, Sophia and Andrew. She was born March 28, 1913 in Pidomitza, Russia. The most formative influence of her early life was her maternal grandmother, who, along with her husband, cared for Florence and her sister after their mother died. In her early teens, she relocated to Regina, SK to live with an uncle. It was there that she met and ultimately wed Alexander Fages on November 20, 1932. They lived in Milestone, SK for the following 12 years where Alexander owned and operated a general store. In 1944, the couple returned to Regina, then moved to Winnipeg, MB in 1963 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Florence was a kind, gentle soul, intensely devoted to her family. Her greatest pleasure was derived from the time she spent with her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. She showered them with love, and was to them a model of strength and virtue. She imparted to her children and grandchildren the value of charity and loyalty to community by volunteering for such organizations as Hadassah, Pioneer Women and the Eastern Star. She and Alexander were ideally suited for one another, sharing a long fulfilling life together. She will forever be remembered and lovingly cherished. Funeral services were held on June 21 at Congregation Etz Chayim. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Shari Fages Garber, Pamela Fages, Jeffrey, David and Bryan Hershfield, Ian Garber and Alison Gillmor.
