Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTHONY HOLENS August 14, 1911 - June 30, 2005 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather Anthony Holens in his 94th year. Anthony will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children, Tom (Audrey) and Carol (John ) Wiebe; as well as his grandchildren, Jason (Sue), Pam (Andy), Sandee (Jeff), Gord (Pam), Chris (Coral), Brad (Lisa); great-grandchildren, Stephen, Ryan, Samuel, Heather, Brad, Alanna, Andrew and Miranda; brother Stanley (Freda); and sisters-in-law, Olga and Olive. Anthony was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary; his brothers, John and Frank; his sisters, Dora, Caroline, Minnie, and Beatrice; as well as his granddaughter Susan. Orphaned at an early age, Anthony's formal education was cut short. He was able to secure a position as a cook with C.P.R. railways, he then worked at the Winnipeg Winter Club before becoming Head Chef at the Marlborough Hotel for approximately 30 years. Anthony received a diploma from the Yale University School of Culinary Arts and was a founding member of the Chef's de Cuisine of Manitoba. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Donwood Manor for all their kindness and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the considerate care they provided. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin Road with viewing one half hour prior.
