JOHN ALEXANDER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Douglas Park Alexander on June 29, 2005 at the age of 80 years. Jack leaves to mourn his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley; and their children, Pat (Bob Doerksen) of Airdrie, AB, Jack Jr. (Pat), Karen (Pierre Bartlette) of Calgary, AB, Terry (Norma), Kevin (Brenda), of Scarborough, ON, Douglas (Charlene) and Kristine (Jerry Siwicki) He also leaves to cherish his memory, his 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Helen, Fern (Elwood Sonny ), Iris, Valerie (Russ) and Shelagh (Doug) and one sister-in-law Verna (Roy). Jack will be remembered with fondness by his cousins Arla and Lorna (Clifford) and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John; mother Hester; step-father Russell; and sister Ethel (Bootie). Jack was born on December 4, 1924 in Winnipeg. As a youth, Jack served as a cadet with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and on his 18th birthday he signed up to serve his country in the Second World War. He served overseas in England with the medical corps and upon discharge from service, he began his lifelong career with the C.P.R. He began as a messenger boy and retired as chief clerk in 1984. Jack filled his home with love, laughter and music. He loved to sing and dance and was charming and witty with all who knew him. Jack loved sports especially his beloved Blue Jays, crossword puzzles, reading, fishing, playing penny poker and cooking. Jack passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and we wish to acknowledge the care and kindness of the staff at the Riverview Health Centre and Jack's palliative care nurse Maryann. There will be a celebration of life on Monday, July 4 at 2:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Until we meet again We love you Dad We'll miss ya! CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
