BRONISLAW KORBA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bronislaw Korba on June 27, 2005 in Wadena, SK. Bronislaw is survived by his wife Maria of forty years; his nieces, Diana Szwarc (Stan) of Winnipeg, Jeanette Warzel (John) of Winnipeg and Angela Lipinski (Matthew) of Arizona, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Poland, the United States and Canada. Bronislaw was born in Poland on November 12, 1910. In 1939, he was recalled as a reservist to the Polish army, and took part in the September Campaign. When the Russians invaded Poland, he and his family were deported to Siberia, where he worked in the bush camps. After amnesty was declared, he rejoined the Polish army, which took him through Iran, Egypt, Palestine, South Africa, and England. He was then transferred to an army tank corps, and took part in the Invasion of Normandy. From there he continued through Belgium, Holland, and into Germany. At the end of the war, he was assigned to the British Occupation Forces. In 1947, Bronislaw immigrated to Canada and worked on a farm in Saskatchewan. He then moved to northern Ontario, where he worked in the Central Patricia Gold Mines. He later purchased land in Saskatchewan and started his farm. In 1964, he met and married Maria, and continued to farm until his retirement in 1982. Bronislaw will forever be remembered as a kind, gentle, quiet man, who with his quick wit, humour, and many stories, could set a silent room of people into laughter. His family and all who knew him will sadly miss his generosity and farm hospitality. The world is a better place because of you Wujek. May you rest in peace. Praying of the rosary will be held at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. on Monday, July 4 at 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. also at the church with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Wieczny odpoczynek racz mu dac, Panie CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
