HORST OTTO MAX HARDT May 10,1943 - June 30,2005 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear husband, father and Opa at the early age of 62, on June 30, 2005. Horst will be deeply missed by his loving wife Elaine, his children, Katie Marlow (Trace), Vickie Banera (Ed), Lara Stefansson (Todd), Cheryl Schneider (Paul), John Mark Hardt (Christine), Tamara Ewatski (Kevin) and 14 grandchildren. Also surviving brothers, Heinz (Susan), Gunther (Linda), Rudi (Helena) and family in Germany. He was predeceased by parents, Frieda and Fritz. Horst was born in Nemien Pomercnia, Germany on May 10, 1943 and came to Winnipeg in 1953, where he lived in the North End. Horst began his apprenticeship as a painter at 16. His career spanned 46 years. He enjoyed and took pride in his work and he was well known and respected in the industry. He was an avid Skat player. Tournaments took him all over the country, the U.S. and Africa. Horst was a hard worker and he enjoyed life. Horst enjoyed travelling, music, dancing, building and spending time with friends and family. In his later years, he found solace in the outdoors, where he tended to his yard and house. He spent many hours on the deck, with a cup of coffee, just being apart of it all. In 1992, Horst was diagnosed with MS. Although a debilitating disease, the progression was slow, which was a blessing. In November, things took a turn for the worse. He was diagnosed with diabetes and his health began failing. In May, he was diagnosed with cancer. We were making arrangements for him to come home from the hospital, where he could spend his last days, when he passed. He fought stoically until the end. Family and friends are welcome to a memorial service to celebrate Horst's life on Tuesday, July 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Reception to follow. A private interment will take place at the Neu Bergthal Cemetery, at a future date. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
