KATE SAVAGE (nee KERELATION) July 21, 1926 - July 1, 2005 Surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with lung cancer, Kate Savage passed away peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2005 at the Riverview Health Centre. She will be ever missed but never forgotten by her daughter Debbie, husband Rick Gariepy and precious grandson Brett (her little buddy and partner in crime). She is also survived by her brother Mike Kerelation, sister-in-law Florence and their family as well as many close friends and family. Mom was predeceased by her husband Lance Mac in 1997; her sister Anne; and by her parents, Harry and Mary. Mom was born in Rorketon, MB in 1926 and moved to Winnipeg in the late 1940s. She was employed by Canada Safeway from 1983 until her retirement on July 27, 1991. Mom was a member of the St. Mary's Road United Church. She was a very courageous person who never stopped believing in miracles even in her final days. Mom inspired many of us with her unwavering courage and acceptance of those things that are only in God's hands. Many thanks to Dr. Choptiany, Dr. N. Ahmed, Dr. Shadd and the wonderful nurses at Riverview for their excellent care and compassion. A special thanks to Marie, Mom's home care nurse for all her kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's name to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 (787-4143). A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5 at the Meadowood United Church, 1111 Dakota St. Interment will follow at St. Vital Cemetery.
