BASMATI PARBOJI Peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2005, Basmati Parboji passed away at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. Basmati was born at La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara, Guyana on June 5, 1934. She was the youngest of five (5) children - two (2) brothers and three (3) sisters. She was married in 1953 and moved to Windsor Forest. In 1981, she immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada with her family. Basmati will be missed by her husband Somwaru Parboji; three (3) sons, Lachman, Dowlat (George) and Pradeep; four (4) daughters, Leila Persaud, Lily Shah, Nera Ramharakh and Patsy Rajpal; daughters-in-law, JP, Indra and Kammy; sons-in-law, Khalid Shah, Bheesham Ramharakh and Surendra Rajpal; seventeen (17) grandchildren; four (4) great-grandchildren; sister and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The Parboji family expresses their deep gratitude to the 3rd floor east wing palliative care staff of Riverview Health Centre. Basmati will be remembered for the way she cared for her many children and grandchildren, hard work in and out of her home, her strong Hindu faith and her love for cooking and gardening.
