Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVILHJALMUR LAURIER ANDERSON February 9 1919 - July 3 2005 Uncle Ben died quietly at 2:45 a.m., July 3, 2005 in Red River Place, Selkirk. Marilyn and Doug were with him. Bill was the tenth of 11 children of Gudrun and Thorsteinn Anderson. He was predeceased by brothers, Art, Walter, Stoney, Arni, Thor and Bud; sisters, Anna, Bina and Runa; sisters-in-law, Catharine and Martha; brothers-in-law, Charlie and Humphrey. He is survived by his sister Inga; sisters-in-law, Emma, Sophie, Asdis, Olga and Artha; brother-in-law Baldi; and four generations of nephews and nieces. Bill took an avid interest in the lives of his large extended family. Born and raised in the Poplar Park area, he lived for several years in Gimli, prior to taking up residence at Red River Place. Generations of young Andersons strove mightily to best him in checkers, but none was able to out do the Master! In his earlier years Bill took much pleasure in frequently contributing his wisdom to local newspapers and he was proud of the literary achievements of family members. Doug and Marilyn, Allan and Bev were faithful visitors throughout Bill's residence in Selkirk and did much to brighten his life. So, too, did the splendid staff of Red River Place and we are most grateful to them for their kindness. Cremation has taken place. A family memorial will be arranged for a later date. Gilbart's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
