Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN ELSIE (DALE) GRIFFITH (nee ATEAH) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Dale Griffith on Monday, July 4, 2005, peacefully in the arms of her loving husband, at the age of 70 years. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Owen; sons, Trevor (Barbara) and John; daughters, Pam (Craig) and Shelley (Glen); grandchildren, Lanette, Elyse, Michelle, Thomas, Christopher, Courtney, Christie and Jordan; her sister Larrette; her brother Larry (Diane); and her brother-in-law Jim (Joyce). Her parents, Sam and Jessie Ateah, predeceased her. Dale was born in Victoria Beach and left to pursue her dream of one day becoming a nurse and graduated as a LPN from the St. Boniface General Hospital. She later decided to be a stay at home Mom to her three children. Dale loved flying in her husband Owen's plane to wherever their adventurous destinations took them; her favourite being the Florida dollhouse. She enjoyed many hours on her summer porch overlooking the lake and especially loved the company of family and friends. Dale will be remembered for her exceptional talent of making miniature furniture and houses and selling her creations all over the country. Also, one of her biggest achievements was creating and running the Ateah Museum in Victoria Beach. After Dale was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba asked Dale to participate in a program to have the funding for Aricept approved by Manitoba Pharmacare. She appeared on TV and in the newspaper and subsequently the program was approved. All who knew her were very proud of her accomplishment. A celebration of Dale's life will be held on Saturday, July 9 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Michael's Church, 122 - 8th Ave. (corner of 8th Avenue and Pine Street), Victoria Beach, MB, with Pastor Mark Scott officiating. Our family truly appreciates and would like to thank all the wonderful dedicated employees at the River East Care Centre that helped Dale and us through the difficult task of seeing her life cut too short because of this devastating disease. She was a resident at the care home for the past four years. As well, special thanks to all her friends and family that spent time with her during her final days and nights. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dale's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
