Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTILLIE READER 1911 - 2005 While asleep, Tillie passed over peacefully in the early morning hours of July 1, 2005, Canada Day. Her birth on September 26, 1911 in Ukraine was a struggle for survival, which shaped her strong and determined personality. She came to Canada in 1923 at 12 years of age and matured to an exceptionally beautiful woman. While she loved her adopted country, she was extremely proud of her Ukrainian heritage. Tillie loved to tell many stories such as minding her cow or climbing the apple tree, during her childhood years in the Village of Kozewka. Mom lived her 93 years with kindness and generosity. She mothered many of Ron and Dianne's friends who greatly loved and respected her. Her family and wide circle of friends also loved and respected Tillie for her kind spirit and integrity. She was a tell it the way it is lady and she was truly, a lady. Tillie was both a stay at home mom and a helpmate/partner to her husband Oswald in their home-based real estate business, Reader Realty. They were married for 67 years until Oswald passed away, also at age 93, in October 1999. She was predeceased by her mother Anna Burrows, sister Mary Ruzycki and her favourite uncle Wasil and second mother Oksana Boyko. Mom leaves to celebrate her life, daughter Dianne Haag and granddaughter Devon of Vancouver, BC; son Ronald (Phyllis), grandchildren, Regan (Go) Susuki of Ottawa, and Ryan and Randal Reader, sister-in-law Martha Mauer of Detroit, Michigan. The family would like to thank the staff and other residents of the 5th floor Misericordia Interim Care Unit for the kindness and care they gave Tillie while she was with them for three months and to Lena Garcia, her home caretaker, for her kindness and help. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m., viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations, if so desired, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice. We love you Mom and Grandma. Until we meet again.
