BUD (JOHN) KNIGHT It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bud Knight. Peacefully, on July 5, 2005 surrounded by family, Bud passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed by his wife Bette, of 25 years; along with their children, Cathie Jones, Don (Caroline), Trish Horwood, Jan (Larry) McDougall, Andrea and Michelle Breau; and grandchildren, Leith and Jeff Jones, Aidan and Colm Knight, Ryan and Corie Horwood, Brett and Andrea McDougall, Devin, Maryjayne and Aerieanna Breau. He is also survived by his sisters, Gerry Turner and Kathy (Dennis) Dupont and his many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by is mother Roberta and father Jack. Bud was born in Winnipeg on December 20, 1934. He moved with his family to Fork River, MB and then back to Winnipeg in his late teens. In 1953 he married Amy Campbell. In 1956 he joined the army. While in the military, he lived in all of the western provinces and in Germany where he and Amy raised their four children. In 1978 he met Bette Breau. They fell in love and were married in 1980 in Yellowknife, NWT. Together they co-parented Bette's two daughters, Andrea and Michelle. They moved to Trenton, ON, and then to Winnipeg where Bud retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after serving 30 years. He worked with the reserves for a few years and then took a job with the Manitoba Sports Federation. Bud never really did fully retire because he took on the very important role of 'administrative assistant' to Bette, while she managed many of the Regis Salons and kept up with the very demanding schedules of her job. Bud's love of sports allowed him to meet the many lifelong friends he so fondly cherished. He was an avid curler, he coached baseball for many years, but his real passion was for five pin bowling, which he played and coached for nearly 50 years. Bud will be lovingly remembered and live on in the hearts and memories of family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations can be made in Bud's memory to Cancer Care Manitoba. Dear Bette and family, My heartfelt sorrow goes out to you and your family during this sad time. I only had the pleasure to meet Bud a couple of times with Regis functions but always remember him as a man who loved to live and enjoyed a great joke and shared many. May cherished memories of happy times bring you comfort. My love to you Bette, Love Chrissie. - Posted by: Chrissie Heil (Friend) on: Jul 06, 2005
