Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD (RON) JOSEPH LONG Peacefully, on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, with his family by his side, our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ron passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 74 years. Ron will be deeply missed by his loving wife Lillian, of 54 years of marriage; children, Valerie Killen (Gerry), Richard Long (Pam), Susan Lamb, Cynthia Burton (Luc) and Gregory Long; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his twin brother Don; daughter Janice; and granddaughter Bobby-Lee. Not only was Ron a devoted family man but he also was a friend, colleague and mentor to many in the hospitality industry. Ron's achievements were numerous and he had celebrated many personal and professional victories such as, Manitoba Chef of the Year 1983, Canadian Chef of the Year in 1990 and Manitoba Chef of the Year for the second time in 2002. He was known best for his stories and he will be deeply missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church (Assiniboia Christian Centre), 3390 Portage Ave. at Rouge Road, with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P.H. presiding. For those who wish, viewing will take place prior to Mass.
