HELEN WALL READMAN GRIERSON (nee RILEY) Peacefully with her family and friends by her side on Friday, July 8, 2005, at the Peter D. Clark Centre, at the age of 96 years. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Grierson (December 23, 2001); and daughter of the late James and Ella Riley; loving mother to Lauretta (Dwight Hill). She will also be sadly missed by her dear friends Lorraine and Roch Beauchamp and their children Myriam and Nicolas. She was predeceased by her brother Warren Riley. Helen graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1931 with a Bachelor of Arts and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in 1934. She attended teachers college in 1935 and taught for many years in Winnipeg. She married William Joseph Bernard Grierson on September 11, 1948, and together they moved to Ottawa and had their daughter Lauretta. Helen taught for many years at Metcalfe High School and Rideau High School in Ottawa until she retired in 1973. She and her husband then moved to Spencerville where they lived for a number of years. They returned to Ottawa in 1990. A memorial service will be held at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave. at Richmond Road, on Sunday, July 10 at 1:30 p.m. with a reception to follow.
