Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRETA MABEL SANDERS 1914 - 2005 It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing, after a brief hospital stay, of Reta Mabel Sanders on Thursday, July 7, 2005 in Winnipeg. Reta was born at the family home on Castle Avenue, Winnipeg on May 3, 1914 and spent her early years here. After helping her widowed father, Harry, she pursued her interests in seeing more of the world and developing her ideal of being a positive agent for change in a hurting world. Her work with the Oxford Group and later Moral Rearmament took her to Ottawa, Mackinaw Island and Los Angeles. Her love of people and life resulted in many deep friendships within her family and her international community. She worked as a legal secretary in Ottawa for more than a decade before retiring to her roots in Winnipeg, where she pursued her interests as an active retiree. She loved the women of her Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Chapter and thrived in their interesting fellowship. She will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, Esther and Eileen; good friend Myrna Protosavage and her many nieces and nephews and their families, Ivan and Darlene Penny (Alberta), Janice and Ken Finlayson (Calgary), Mary Jane and Jim Potvin (Regina), Sylvia and Wayne Chadwick (Deseronto), Jim and Keran Sanders (Winnipeg), Herb and Linda Reynolds (Winnipeg), Sheldon and Karen Reynolds (Winnipeg), David Sanders (Winnipeg), Christopher Potvin, Cheryl and Xavier Potvin, Emily and Dave Jaarsma, Megan Chadwick and Jon Whitzman, Kristina Chadwick, Benjamin Sanders, Colin and Sandra Reynolds and their sons, Cameron, Jordan and Brendon, David and Shannon Beek and their sons, Matthew and Nicholas, Mark Hawkins and family, Graham Reynolds and Kristin Reynolds. Reta was a wonderful supporter of their efforts and achievements right up to her death. She might have felt a little disappointment in the condition of the world but was so keen in investing in the young, whom she clearly saw as tomorrow's leaders. Reta was predeceased by her parents, Mary Jane and Harry; sister Edith; brothers, Harry and Robert; and niece Patricia. Reta chose cremation and her ashes will be interred in the family plot in Old Kildonan prior to a service of celebration to be held at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy. at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 11. Fellowship will follow in the Church Hall. Memorial donations in Reta's memory will be gratefully accepted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choosing.
