Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD G. ZABOWSKI 1943 - 2005 It is with deep regret and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Ronald G. Zabowski. With his family by his side, Ron passed away on Friday, July 8, 2005 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 62. He was a devoted husband and father, family always came first to him and his family was his most prized possession. He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Treese); children, David (Rachelle) and Kristy, sister, Joan (Dan) and brother, Harold (Violet); mother-in-law Josie Taras; sister-in-law Jessie Taras; brother-in-law Wayne (Debbie) Taras, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Helen in 1988 and father Stanley in 1992. Ron was born and raised in Pine Ridge, MB. Ron married Treese, his high school sweetheart in 1966. They welcomed their children, David in 1977 and Kristy in 1981. Ron began a career with the City of Winnipeg in 1970, moving his way up through the Department of Parks and Recreation. He retired as a level 3 foreman in 2002. It was at the City that he made many great friends with whom he traveled and maintained contact after retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors from an early age and spent many summers camping and relaxing at the family's cottage near Beausejour. His and Theresa's passion for the outdoors heightened after his retirement when the two moved back to their childhood community of Oakbank. Ron was an avid fisherman and golfer, passing down his skills to his family and friends. He was always seen with a smile on his face and went out of his way to ensure those around him shared in his joy and laughter. Ron made everyone around him feel special. Ron was most proud of his children and ensured that he provided for them as best he could to make all their dreams come true. He was especially pleased with the recent announcement given to him while in the hospital of David and Rachelle's engagement. In 1998, Ron was diagnosed with congestive heart failure but did not let that stop him from living each day to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will live on in our hearts. We are grateful to our family, friends and neighbours for their acts of kindness and support. The family would also like to express their appreciation to the warm and caring staff at the Health Sciences Centre in the Surgical ICU, Trauma Step Down and Medical wards for their tender and compassionate watch while Ron was under their care. A special thank you as well to the Oakbank RCMP and Fire and Paramedic Service for their quick response. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at The Roman Catholic Parish of Our Lady of Hope, Anola, MB, with Rev. Fr. Owen Steeves presiding. An urn placement will follow in Holy Angel Mausoleum, Green Acres Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ron's godson Robert Zabowski. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Wpg, MB R3L 0K6 and the Canadian Liver Foundation of Manitoba, PO Box 1943 Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R2. Sorry to see one of those I went to school with go so young. My regards to Theresa and Harold at this time. Those I have kept in touch with over the years told me about his life over the years. - Posted by: Vic Laird (Acquaintance) on: Jul 12, 2005
