He was predeceased by his parents, Lorna and Bill Grove; sister Joan; brothers, Ted and David; mother-in-law Verna Smith. Mouring his loss he leaves wife Donna, children, Murray and Maureen; granddaughter Kristin. He is survived by brothers, Jim (Pat), Dennis (Stella), Ron (Barb), Norman (Val); sisters, Lorraine, Gwen (Harry), Margaret (Don), Gayle (Ted); sisters-in-law Ann (Robert) and Mariah; brother-in-law,George, Jim (Doreen), Kenny and Jack (Sharon); numerous nieces and nephews. He will also leave many friends and countless acquaintances. Ken was born in Winnipeg on March 25, 1939. His family settled in Selkirk when he was nine and this was where he embarked on numerous adventures and quests for the duration of his life. He was employed as electrician with the Province of Manitoba until 1988 when health reasons forced him to take early retirement. First and foremost Ken was a family man. He was a great provider who took the time and provided the opportunities for his family to succeed. The examples he set were a gift to his children. His granddaughter Kristin was his pride and Joy. He played a phenominal role in her life. They spent countless hours together, he instilled in her many of his great qualities, encouraged and taught her to be successful. He taught her to curl and he was so proud to have her curl lead for him in her first bonspiel at the age of five. He encouraged her dancing and rarely missed an opportunity to see her perform. He provided her with many opportunities and passed onto her many of his gifts, his legacy lives on through her. Anything Dad did he did well. It was not in his nature to be a quitter but rather he dedicated himself to constantly improve and be his best, because of this his accomplishments and successes were many. He was very well known and a respected competitor. Baseball, pool and hockey were part of his younger years. Golf and curling were his passion. He spent countless hours practicing and bettering himself, he won many golf tournaments and curling bonspiels along the way. He was very proud to have had the opportunity to represent the Province at the Canadian Seniors in 2000 and skip his team to victory at the Canadian Masters in 2002. He was a man to be admired. His smile embedded in our thoughts, his strength and courage in our memories. We will truly miss his knowledge, wisdom and support. Flowers are gratefully declined. In memory of Ken donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Christ Church Building Fund or the charity of one's choice. When I die bury my faults and prejudices with me. If you love me say something kind to the ones that are left, that way I will live forever. Papa; Although your not with us any more, I thank God that you were. I will always have good memories of the years we shared together. - Love Kristin.
