Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE BRUCE NIPPI It is with great sadness the family of Ahkwe Mahkwa Earthbear Lawrence Bruce Nippi, announces his passing on July 8, 2005. Lawrence was widely known by his nickname 'Barney'. Lawrence joins his father Walter Taysup in the spiritworld. He is survived by his daughters, Prairie Dawn and Jeanine; his grandson Stormyday; and his former wife Donna Olson. He also leaves to mourn his mother Stella; his siblings, Gina (Earl), Adeline, Gerald, Vicky and Charles; many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Lawrence was originally from the Yellowquill First Nation, SK but had made Winnipeg his home for the past 30 years. Lawrence was deeply involved in community activities within the Aboriginal community of Winnipeg including the visual arts and traditional activities especially within the pow wow tradition of his Saulteaux culture. Lawrence will likely be most remembered for his kind, gentle manner and his great sense of humour. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Lawrence Ahkwe Mahkwa, may your spirit soar with the eagles. Wake will be held Monday, July 11 from 7:00 p.m. at the Anishanabe Fellowship Centre at 287 Laura St. Funeral service to commence at 11:00 a.m., July 12 at the Korban Funeral Chapel at 907 Main St., interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame.
