HARRIS EVAN MASHINTER September 7, 1985 - July 9, 2005 It is with deepest regrets that the Mashinter and Milberg families have to announce the tragic passing of Harris Evan Mashinter, that occurred in the early morning of Saturday, July 9, 2005. Harris is survived by both his parents, Brian (Sherri Armour) and Janice (Gary Voss); and his two brothers, Gordon and Sean (Alisa Petrachek). He also leaves behind to cherish his memories Grandma Mashinter (Bolton, ON), Uncle Greg and Aunt Christine Milberg, Aunt Denise and Uncle Dave Thomas, Uncle Don Milberg, Aunt Carol and Uncle Peter Blackmere (Bolton), Uncle David and Aunt Sharon Mashinter (Acton, ON), Uncle Keith Mashinter (Toronto, ON), Uncle Jim and Aunt Eve Gordon (Brampton, ON); cousins, Christopher (Beth) Blackmere, Wayne Blackmere, Debbie and Jim Mashinter and Cole and Carson Milberg. Harris attended John De Graff, Valley Gardens Junior High and Kildonan East Collegiate. Harris' passion was basketball which he played at Valley Gardens and Kildonan East and at Valley Gardens Community Centre where he developed may long lasting friends including Derek, Tyler, Daniel, Jamal, Adam and David. With his friends he shared his passion for music, sports and life. Before basketball he was very active with the John De Graff Scout Group from an early age. When he wasn't going to his own camp, he tagged along with this big brothers. Harris had a strong love for his pets, whom he played with every day. He was a quiet, caring, hard working individual that enjoyed the company of both his family and friends. He enjoyed going out to Grand Beach in the summer with is friends as well as playing pick up basketball games with is brothers and uncles at family events. Harris showed a strong work ethic and truly cared about he had done by painting with his dad in the summers. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13 at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy. No flowers please. Donations may be made to Kidsport (Sport Manitoba), 200 Main St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4M2 or the Firefighters Burn Fund, 303 - 83 Garry St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4J9.
