Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMA FAYE JOHNSTON (nee OLSON) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Faye on Friday, July 8, 2005 at the Seven Oaks Hospital after a difficult year of challenging illnesses, finally succumbing to cancer. She was predeceased by her husband James; her parents, Anton and Marie Olson. She is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Donald Martin of Mississauga, ON; her aunt and uncle, Ella and Al St. Hilaire; and several cousins. Norma Faye was born in Winnipeg; attended the University of Winnipeg, achieving a Bachelor of Arts Degree (1977). Over many years, she dedicated considerable time and energy in fundraising and in support of the arts, including Manitoba Theatre, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The Winnipeg Art Gallery and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. An inveterate traveler, Norma Faye delighted in cruises and trips abroad. For years, every summer was spent at her cottage at Lake Brereton in the Whiteshell, swimming boating and gardening. Seeing Norma, paint brush in hand at the cottage, will be an enduring memory for many of her friends and relatives. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15 in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Interment will take place in Brookside Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Norma Faye's memory to the Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 9Z9 or to a charity of choice.
