E. MARY GRIDLEY (VENUS) September 22, 1920 - July 9, 2005 Peacefully, with family at her side, on July 9, 2005 Mary passed away at the age of 84. Mary was predeceased by her first husband Louis Venus and her daughter Ellenor. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ernest (Ted); daughter Marilyn (Peter) Paley; son Robert (Barbara) Venus; grandchildren, Rob, Greg, Sean, Maryann, and Rick. She will also be sadly missed by seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Mary will also be missed by Ted's family, as well as many extended family and friends. Mary was born in Hilbre, MB and moved to Winnipeg at a young age. She taught at West Kildonan Collegiate for over 20 years. She volunteered with many organizations, including Scouts, Girl Guides, Cadets and many United Church activities. Mary enjoyed summers at Sherwood Lake, where she made many longtime friends. Mary was a kind and gentle woman, she loved youths and was known as Mom to many. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital, Deer Lodge Centre, and Spring Taxi for their care and kindness. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 14, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with viewing one half hour prior, and a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary's name may be made to the War Amputations of Canada, 115 Marianne Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2R 1W4.
