MINNIE LAVALLEE On Saturday, July 9, 2005 while enjoying a nap in her easy chair, Minnie LaVallee, was rewarded for her life of faith, grace and love by being called home to her Lord. She joyfully rejoins her parents, Pauline and John Sitar; husband Joseph; daughter Joyce; and her great-granddaughter Paige; and her good friend Ruth. Left to miss her smiles and laughter are her son Don; daughter Doreen (Richard); brother Tony (Mary) Sitar; sisters, Jean Driedger and Clara Racine; her grandchildren, Charlene (Steve), Ryan, Jennifer, Stacey and Ross (Sheryl); as well as her great-grandchildren, James, Brandy, Sarina, Julia, and Alyia; as well as many friends and neighbours. Mom spent her working years in the food service industry while raising three children, she had a work ethic that was admired by her all who knew her. After retiring from the Winnipeg Winter Club in 1985, Mom went right into the next phase of her life travelling from Hawaii to Alaska to Prince Edward Island while doing all she could for her family and her church in-between trips. Her church was very important to her and she gave it her all. Her enjoyments when home were knitting, cooking, gardening, baking and volunteering every free minute she had. Mom and her churchwomen catered and volunteered at every event possible for many, many years. Her greatest joy of all was to feed everyone who sat at her table. The one thing that we will always remember about Granny was the youth within her heart. She had a playfulness of spirit and a cuteness of smile that truly belied her age, and will be the greatest loss to those of us left behind to mourn (aside from all the outstanding food she lovingly prepared for us all). You were truly one of a kind. Thank you, God, for the time you gave us with her, and for taking her home with such gentle comfort. Until we meet again... In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, July 16 at 12:30 p.m. with viewing one hour prior at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
