SOPHIE SAWCHUK It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and baba. Mom passed away suddenly at Lee River, MB on July 10, 2005 at the age of 87 years. Mom had a heart of gold and enjoyed her life to the fullest. Sophie loved travelling with Alex over their 60 years of marriage. She enjoyed nature, gardening, knitting, cooking, watching her grandchildren grow up and loved playing with her great-grandchildren. Each Thursday was sheer enjoyment with all her many friends at Fred Douglas Lodge Adult Day Program. Sophie was predeceased by her parents, Sawa and Sophie Mandzuik; her husband Alexander; sister Rose; and brother Mike. Sophie's memory will be forever cherished by her family, daughters, Lorraine Evans and Marilyn Mallin (Jerry); grandchildren, Renee (Darren), Dean (Sophia), Jason (Jenn) and Stacey; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Chantelle, Keenan and Kayla. Also left to mourn sisters, Irene Rimkus, Janet Gingera (Walter); sister-in-law Lillian Mandzuik of Thunder Bay, ON; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place. The family invites relatives and friends to join them for an informal gathering at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. reception area on Thursday, July 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The family would like to thank Dr. Frank Martin for his many years of caring and gentle attentiveness, the many home care workers over the years, the R.C.M.P. and paramedic service of Lac du Bonnet.
