Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS MARGARET STEWART 1925 - 2005 Gladys Margaret Stewart, (nee Evans), beloved wife of Robert (RD) Stewart, passed away surrounded by her family at the Minnedosa Health Center on July 6, 2005, at the age of 79 years. The youngest child of a family of ten, she was born to Abraham and Mary Ellen Rose Evans, on December 12, 1925 at Dewar Lake SK, and married Robert Stewart on November 29, 1952 at Greenwood United Church in Winnipeg. Gladys received her early education at Dewar Lake and Wilkie, SK and took her nursing degree at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. She worked briefly in Russell, and then moved to Minnedosa where she devoted the next 38 years to nursing at the Minnedosa Hospital and Care Home. Growing up through the depression years, large family gatherings with rousing card games and interesting discussions were an important and regular part of their social lives. Family continued to be important, and Gladys was called upon many times and willingly gave of her time to nurse and care for family members and friends in need. Gladys was a member of the Minnedosa UCW, the Manitoba Nurses Association, involved with the Meals on Wheels program, and was an avid participant in the local Bridge Club. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Robert of 53 years her only surviving sister, Thelma Nordine, of St Louis, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Isabelle Evans, Eileen Lytle, Verna Kieper, Jean Lewis, Thelma Stewart, and Dorothy Stewart; many nieces, nephews, family members, and special friends. Gladys was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Patricia Jean Stewart, (December 2, 2004), her parents, brothers Grant, Dick, Bob, Cluney, Bruce, and Hugh, and sisters Mildred and Nel. The funeral service to celebrate Gladys' life was held at the Minnedosa United Church, on July 11, 2005, with Rev. Shawn Ankenmann officiating. If friends so wish, donations in memory of Gladys may be made to a charity of one's choice Arrangements were with Memories Chapel and Pre-Planning Centre, Minnedosa.
