Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBJORG HELGA BORGFJORD AMMA B June 7, 1917 - July 11, 2005 Peacefully on July 11, 2005, Bjorg Borgfjord passed away at the Gimli Community Health Centre at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband Arni Wilfred, her sister Kristrun Sigurdson, her brother Jon Jonsson and family friend Mary-Joyce Tessier. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Arlene (Ken) Munnoch, Jonina (Dave) Bell, Wilfred, Phyllis (Norman) Hurdel, Edward (Joanne) and Brent (Karen); brother Siggi Sigurdson; grandchildren, Craig, Lyle, Heather, Lori, Heather, Lori, Scott, Tracey, Marni, Trevor, Brett, Melanie, Lorna, Marti, Aynslee, Terry, Dana, Jenna, Amy, Ashley, Stephen and Katie; and 17 great-grandchildren. Bjorg was born in Geysir and married Arni in 1938. Always a farm girl, she and Arni began to farm on one of her father's quarters where they raised chicken, cattle, pigs and grain. Arni passed away in 1965. Their eldest son Fred, then took on the farm responsibilities while Bjorg continued to live on the farm and raised the younger children. She stayed on the farm as long as possible and then moved to Sunrise Lodge in Arborg. She was an excellent homemaker and loving mother who enjoyed gardening, baking and sewing. She maintained her knitting hobby until only recently and will be remembered by her 4-H members for her exceptional sewing skills as a 4-H leader. Bingo, was always a favourite pastime for her that she enjoyed with family and friends. Special thanks to the home care workers at Sunrise Lodge and the staff at Betel for their compassion and care. A memorial service will be held at Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, Saturday, July 16 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
