HELEN J. FARACI With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our deeply loved Helen Faraci, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, and friend. After a hard fought recovery attempt from a fall, ensuing complications led to her passing at the Victoria General Hospital on July 11, 2005. Born in Winnipeg on July 24, 1921, the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Charlotte France, she was predeceased by her husband, John, her father and mother, and her siblings Nellie, Olive, Myra, Em, Edie, Fred, Jimmy, George and Harry. Helen is survived by her sons, Edward (Thelma) and Dennis (Louise Jonasson); her daughter, Linda Anderson (Dennis); grandchildren, Gregory, Robin, Katherine and Paige Faraci (Ed) and Stephanie and Brent Anderson (Linda); great-granddaughter, Hana (Robin); many nieces, nephews and friends. Helen was the best homemaker, always, always, taking care of her husband and children; Christmas eves, boxing days and parties were always elaborately prepared with mom's cooking, decorating, wrapping and serving. Her children's music lessons were attended by mom and she sat at practices to ensure they were completed. Everyone enjoyed her spaghetti and meat balls and veal cutlets. Her maid's day out for decades was spent at her bowling club. She played strong games of bridge, dominoes and casino and was active in curling and with the ladies Elks. She enjoyed dancing, country music, and yodelling. Her musical ditties will always be a part of our vocabulary. Her sense of humour was inspiring to all. Mom's life was filled with her family. Helen and John were famous to all who knew them. Prayers will be said at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Ave., Friday, July 15, at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Mark Tarrant, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be Jack McBride, George McBride, Dennis Anderson, Brent Anderson, Vincent Gerwing, Louise Jonasson. Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Nelson (in absentia). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Riverview Health Centre, Unit 2D, 1 Morley Ave. R3L 2P4; or to the Victoria General Hospital, Unit 4, 2340 Pembina Hwy. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My fondest memories are the 24th of May celebrations at our home in North Kildonan where the entire family gathered every year. Aunt Helen was always there to offer a helping hand in the preperation for this event in making it a true family affair. To me her dougher cookies were the best. I still make them today. She will be remembered by all who know her as one of the best. I loved her spirit and determination, she will be missed. • Having met your Mom through my work, and her very loving family, I feel you were truly blessed. Celebrate those wonderful memories. Sincerely, Penny Buckingham - Posted by: Penny Buckingham (Acquaintance) on: Jul 14, 2005
