ANNE ESTHER SAUNDERS Peacefully on July 14, 2005, Anne passed away at the age of 95. She was predeceased by Joe, her husband of 56 years, on November 30, 1995; and her sisters, Sally, Shiffie and Lucy; and brother Sam. She was a very special lady and will be lovingly missed by her family and friends. Born on April 12, 1910 in Winnipeg to Eva and Frank Silverberg, Anne grew up in the north end of Winnipeg. Her working career started as a factory seamstress and with her usual determination, became one of the organizers of the factory workers' union. She worked at Clifford's Ladies Wear until retiring in 1964 and became actively involved with Bleak House senior citizens centre for several years. Anne enjoyed life and could never pass up bingo or a game of cards. She had a generous heart and a wonderful sense of humour, which we all treasured. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Harvey and Charles (Sharon); her grandchildren, Kevin, Melissa (Kevin), Brian, Jennifer, Jeremy and Steven; her sister Shirley; and loved relatives, Ted (Estelle), Mamie (Andy), Jackie (Sharon), Lillian and David. The family would like to thank Dr. Pacin and the great staff at the Simkin Centre, Sharon Home for their wonderful care of Anne while she resided there and the staff of the Fifth Floor, Victoria Hospital for their kindness during her recent stay. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, July 17 at The Chesed Shel Emes Chapel, 1023 Main St. with interment to follow at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Fund.
