JEAN VAN SANTEN (nee McGOWAN) Peacefully at home in High River, AB, Jean, aged 72, was called to heaven. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim; daughter Betty and Ryan Clarke, granddaughter Amy Jean Clarke; daughter Janie Van Santen and Dale Tamblyn; brother Gilbert and Jenny McGowan. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert (Scotty) and Elizabeth McGowan and sister Betty Davidson. Jean was born on March 19, 1933 in the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. She married her lifelong friend and companion, Jim, on May 24, 1958 and spent 71 of her 72 years in St. Vital. They recently relocated to High River to be closer to their family. A funeral service will he held at SNODGRASS FUNERAL CHAPEL, High River on Thursday, July 14 at 1:00 p.m. with Shirley Collard D.M. officiating. Cremation to follow at Parklawn Crematorium, High River. A memorial service will be held at the UNITED CHURCH OF MEADOWOOD, 1111 Dakota St., Winnipeg on Monday, July 18 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Linda Churchill officiating. Jean's ashes will be laid to rest in the St. Vital Cemetery at private service and a memorial in her honour will be located at DeWinton, AB. If friends so desire, they may make a donation in Jean's memory to either the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or to the Calgary Humane Society (SPCA), 1323 - 36th Ave. N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 6T6.
