Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARTH JAMES BJARNASON September 7, 1956 - July 4, 2005 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Garth Bjarnason in Oliver, BC on July 4, 2005. Garth was predeceased by his father Carl Bjarnason in 2001. He is survived by his loving mother Patricia (Lake Metigoshe); siblings, Laura (Steve), Bridge Lake, BC, Robert (Kathryn), Carberry, MB, Kathlyn (Ross), Minnedosa, MB, Elin (Rita), Duncan, BC;, nieces and nephews, Carla (Chris), Andrew, Kris-Jon, Kiersten and Anya; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Garth was born in Winnipeg, MB and lived his youth in St. James-Assiniboia where he attended St, James Collegiate. After graduation in 1974, he attended the University of Winnipeg and eventually moved and lived for the rest of his life in southern British Columbia. In his youth Garth enjoyed athletics especially golf and hockey. Many happy times were spent playing golf at the Assiniboine Golf Course with his dad and brother Rob or skating with the guys at the Deer Lodge Community Club. He was an outgoing and popular young man with many friends. Garth loved the outdoors and spent most of his adult years working in the Okanagan in orchards and vineyards and at fishing camps. Garth was most at peace with nature and his happiest times were spent on a lake with a fishing rod in hand. He especially enjoyed times spent at the family cabin at Lake Metigoshe fishing, water-skiing or around the campfire. Garth was an avid reader and loved music and animals. Throughout his life, he enjoyed the companionship of many pet dogs. Garth's family takes comfort in the belief that he is at peace in a better place and is once again with his dad Carl the old professor . Happy to meet - Sorry to part Happy to meet again. Cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be held in Boissevain, MB in August 2005. Flowers are gratefully declined but if desired, donations in Garth's memory may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous.

I've been thinking about my cousin Garth lately as I am planning a visit to Germany to visit my Uncle John's gravesite, in Kiel. He was a Pilot in World War Two and my Mom's younger brother. Garth was named after my Father, and Mom's younger sister is my Aunt Pat. We had fabulous xmas meals at their Home in St. James, eating, laughing, and talking Jets! Life was good in the 70's and they were good friends and my family. I dream of fishing with Carl and Garth, solving the Jets playoff woes.
