PAOLO NASUTI Peacefully, with his family by his side, we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 80 years after a lengthy battle with Mesothelioma cancer. Paolo was predeceased by his wife Assunta in 1999, parents Giovanni and Ottaviano, two brothers Carmine and Tony in Italy. He leaves to mourn his sister Luisietta (Italy), sons Armando (June), Mario (Debra), Alberto (Lori) and daughter Anna (Randy); grandchildren Paul (Heather), Gina, Tammy, Albert and Robert, Sarina and Brendan, great grandchildren Alexandra and Adrianna. Dad was born on December 1, 1924 in Lanciano, Chieti, Italy. In his earlier years he worked in road repairs in Mozzagrogna. He married Assunta in 1944. While mom was raising their family in Italy, Dad found employment in Switzerland for 5 years. Dad immigrated to Canada in 1957 to provide a better living for his family, with mom and her sons, Armando, Mario and Alberto arriving one year later. In 1961, their daughter Anna was born. After living in several apartments and with what little funds they had, they were finally able to purchase their first and only home on Lydia Street. After working in various jobs, Dad found steady employment at Acme Chrome Furniture. He was able to retire in 1988 so that he could care for Mom after her first stroke in 1986. Dad had a passion for wine making and gardening which he still did up until last year. He always enjoyed puttering and fixing things. Later on in years he loved to go for his daily walks. He was always a strong and healthy man. We, as his children, were saddened to see our Dad at the age of 80 suffer from such a devastating and debilitating disease. What he loved and cherished most of all was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially on Sundays. He will be missed by many for his loving nature and his quick smile. The family wishes to extend thanks to St. Boniface, 5B Medicine Ward and Palliative Care Unit. Also, thanks to Dr. Garcia and Dr. Leylak (HSC) for their care. A special thanks to Dr. P. Daeninck for his understanding and caring ways and making Dad comfortable. Viewing will take place on Sunday, July 17, 2005 from 7:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Rd. Due to construction at Holy Rosary Church, the funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, 323 St. Mary Ave. with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. (Parking is available at Eaton's parkade.) Entombment will follow in the Garden of Four Apostles in Green Acres Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Luigi Montebruno, Ed Lusky, Randy Hapin and grandsons, Paul Nasuti, Albert Nasuti, Robert Nasuti and Brendan Hapin. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Father Who always saw his children have The things he did without: And gave so much unselfishly For that's what love's about. Who sought no honours, no rewards, For all that he had done; Except to raise a family, The very finest one. Though we cannot evaluate Our dad, his love, his worth, To us he'll always be just Dad: The greatest guy on earth. Rest in Peace. You will always be missed.
