ALLAN GORDON HODGE Allan Gordon Hodge passed away peacefully on July 12, 2005 at St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. He spent his last days, as he spent all his days, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Allan was predeceased by his wife Anna (nee Hallson), his parents and his nine siblings. He is survived by his loving partner of nine years, Irene; his four children Margaret, Sandra, Gordon (Michele) and David (Barbara-Anne); nine grandchildren Cory (Marney), Mark (Suzanne), Angela (Taggart), Timothy, John, Emily, Samuel, Tyler and Grace; and three great grandchildren Brenda, Dylan and Nicholas. He is also survived by Irene's children Barrie (Cindy), Tom (Annette), Sharon (Paul), Susan (Rob) and Rick (Tracy); ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. Allan was born on November 22, 1926 in Carlyle, Saskatchewan where his love of fishing earned him the nickname Fisher . In his younger days, he also enjoyed hockey and curling. He came to Winnipeg in 1950, where he met and married Anna, and began a 39 year career with Ashdowns / Acklands. Mom and Dad were married for 45 loving years. Family was always Dad's top priority in life. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather who took great care of Mom during her illness until the time of her passing in 1996. Over the years, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with our wonderful extended family sharing meals, visiting, and joking around. More recently, he enjoyed travelling all over the United States and Europe with Irene and her family and was known to pull a few levers at casinos. Dad's kids would like to thank Auntie Irene for the exceptional care she gave our Dad. She kept him healthy and made him so happy! Special thanks to Dad's longtime friend and neighbour, Kaz Shachtay, for his incredible support over the years. Father Who worked so hard and saved so long For what we have today. And anytime would sacrifice his chance to rest or play. Who always saw his children have The things he did without, And gave so much unselfishly for that is what love is all about. Who sought no honours, no reward, for all that he had done; Except to raise a family, the very finest one. Though we cannot evaluate our Dad, his love, his worth He'll always be just Dad , the greatest guy on earth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
