DARLENE ALICE RUBY KASHUBA (nee HOW) December 20, 1959 With sorrow we announce the passing of Darlene on Friday, July 15, 2005 after a 14 month struggle with cancer. Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her husband Larry; daughters, Jaime and Stacie; her parents, Donald and Lizette How; her sister Lorelei (Ronald) Fife; her brother-in-law Robert Wegner and her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and many friends. She will also be sadly missed by her mother-in-law Liz Kashuba; brother-in-law Ken Kashuba; and sister-in-law Brenda (Ray) Cruickshank and their families. Darlene was predeceased by her sister Cherie Wegner in 2000. Darlene was raised in Transcona and graduated from Transcona Collegiate. She joined the Winnipeg Police Service in 1977 where she worked as an officer in numerous uniform and plain clothes divisions. She retired after 25 years of Service to the citizens of Winnipeg and commenced her second career as a para-professional at Kildonan East High School until becoming ill in May 2004. Darlene loved planning her family's summer vacations which included numerous motorhome trips across western Canada and the U.S. She could always be seen at school gymnasiums and hockey rinks throughout Winnipeg while attending her daughters' various sporting events. Prayers will be said on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Rd. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 710 Roanoke St. in Transcona, with Fr. Gerry Ward presiding. The service will conclude at the church with cremation to follow. Private interment will take place at Green Acres Cemetery at a later time. Special thanks to the caring individuals of the Cancer Care Unit in the St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Darlene's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
