ROMAIN LANTHIER Peacefully after a lengthy illness, Romain Lanthier passed into the hands of the Lord on July 15, 2005 at St. Boniface Hospital. Romain was predeceased by his daughters, Monique, Rita, Jeannette; and his granddaughter Amanda Lanthier. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 58 years, Albertine, their children, Yvette (David Neyedly), Denis, Rene (Grace Parson); grandchildren, Raymond DeSorcy, Danielle DeSorcy, Jessica Lanthier; his sister Flore Ulasy; and his brothers, Noel (Anne), Luc (Raymonde), and several nieces and nephews. He serviced overseas with the Canadian Military (PPCLI), was wounded in the Sicilian Campaign and returned home in 1945. Following a lengthy recovery he married his sweetheart Albertine in 1947. He began his career as an employment counsellor with Manpower and Immigration in 1946, retiring in 1977. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In accordance with Romain's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., July 19 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Following the service, Romain's remains will be laid to rest in the family niche at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Romain to the Manitoba Lung Association.
