LEO JOSEPH BARON March 4, 1915 - July 14, 2005 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our deeply loved Father, Pepere and Granpepere Leo Joseph. After a hard fought recovery attempt from a fall, ensuing complications led to his passing at the Grace Hospital on July 14, 2005. Pepere has gone onto join his beloved wife Liliane and other predeceased family including his mother and father Adela and Hector; brother Omer and sister Juliette. His memory will be cherished by his only child Claudette Griffin (Roger); granddaughters, Angele Skinner (Scott) and Cherise Griffin (Scott); great-grandchildren, Desiree, Dominic, Olivia and Abigail and extended family, Vine, Suzanne, Michelle, Jacqueline and Kristopher Barron. He also will be missed by sisters, Evelyn, Lauraine, Jeanette and brothers, Edward, Alphonse and Frank and many nieces and nephews. Pepere was born in Mariapolis, MB and married Liliane Lemieux on October 28, 1942. In 1946 they settled in Teulon, MB where Pepere continued to sell Rawleigh products door to door. In 1952 after recovering from Polio, he went on to establish his own business known as L.J. Baron Insurance and Real Estate (currently known as Baron and Griffin Insurance Agency and L.J. Baron Reality). Together with his wife, Liliane, he was able to achieve and fulfil many dreams. The second generation family business was carried on by Claudette and Roger. He was an amazing mentor and role model and his wisdom and advice was always appreciated. He was a well respected business man and contributor to the community. Pepere was not only a entrepreneur but a talented musician. He loved playing a variety of instruments and brought joy to family and friends with his musical gifts which included singing and yodeling. There was many a time he was compared to Hank Williams Sr. He was fortunate to spend many years travelling with Grandmere to many exotic places and we can't forget the casinos. Pepere loved going to the casino. He also looked forward to his chess games with his partner Laurence Eyolfson and touring around town on his scooter. Pepere was a kind and gentle man who gave so much to both his family and community. He will be missed by many and leaves a legacy that will be carried on for generations to come. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the wonderful Angels from homecare who cared so much for Pepere over the years. He always said how lucky he was to be treated so well. Thank you also to all the staff at Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital who cared for Pepere during his stay throughout the years. Prayers will be held on Monday, July 18 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Teulon and a celebration of Pepere's life will be held Tuesday, July 19 at 2:00 p.m. also at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, memorial donations may be made in Pepere's memory to the Liliane Baron South Interlake Breast Cancer Support Group, Box 10, Teulon, MB R0C 3B0. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
