BETTY (ILEENE ELIZABETH) DAWE (formerly Whitehead, Wakeman, Ramsay) February 16, 1931 - July 17, 2005 After a courageous battle with cancer, Betty passed peacefully at her home the morning of Sunday, July 17, 2005. Betty will forever be remembered and cherished by her devoted husband Sam, children Donna (Bruce) Young, Pall (Marlene) Ramsay, Marlene Ramsay, Laurene (Mike) Clark, Christine Dawe, Faith Russell (Tim Roberts) and Keith Russell. Grandma Betty also leaves her special grandchildren Janna, Kaitlin and Madison Young, Sandra Ingenmey, Caroline Brown, Christine Clark, and Jeffery, Michelle and Cassandra Russell. Betty was also great-grandma to Brady and Sidney Ingenmey. Betty is survived by her sister Helen Ball, brother John (Jean) Whitehead and brother Ted (Eileen) Whitehead. Aunt Betty will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her parents Mabel and Lionel Whitehead and her brother-in-law Charlie Ball. Betty was born in Miami, MB and raised and educated in Roland, MB. She moved to Winnipeg on her own at the age of 17. Her working career included Sovereign Life, Public Press and Willow Park Housing Co-op. She enjoyed the trips that she and Sam made in their van and their trailer at Pye's Landing on Lake of the Woods. For many years, Betty was a member of the Thistle Curling Club and the Assiniboine and Tuxedo golf clubs. She also enjoyed her quilting group at Seven Oaks Hospital. Her boundless energy, exceptional organizational and people skills made her a valued member of every organization in which she was involved. Above all else, Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother - never too busy to bake another batch of cookies or breadsticks or to help sew anything that was needed. She was an exceptional mother not only to her daughter Donna, but as well to the other children who became part of her life along the way. They all loved her dearly. Betty lived her life by the motto that you get out of life what you put in and she truly got the most out of her life. A very special person has left us far too soon but will never be forgotten. Many thanks for all the support from our extended family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with a reception to follow. A private interment will take place at the Roland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, 119 Marion St., Wpg., MB R2H 0T2 would be appreciated.
