LAURIE (SCHWANDT) HUNTER Peacefully on Saturday July 16, 2005 at St. Boniface Hospital, Laurie Hunter passed away at the age of 71. Laurie will be sadly missed by her loving husband Bill and her children, Linda (Alex) Surasky, Bob (Nola) Hunter and JoAnn (Rick) MacDonald. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Alan, Kathryn, Megan, Blair and Cameron. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Ann Schwandt and her brothers, Art, Ray and Reg. She is survived by her sister Pat Hrabchak and brother John Schwandt. Laurie was a graduate of Victoria General Hospital's School of Nursing and worked there as a Registered Nurse for her entire career. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Nile and Khartum Ladies' Auxiliary and recently received her 25 year pin from both organizations. Fondest memories of Mom will be of the many family vacations and the times spent with Bill, her children and grandchildren at the family's Bird Lake cabin. The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their assistance and compassion during Mom's final days. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg R3C 3R6.
