Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES CRAWFORD DANGERFIELD Peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2005 with his family by his side, Crawford passed away at Victoria Hospital. Crawf was predeceased by his parents, his brother Keith and favourite dog Jody. He is survived by his loving wife Carol, brother Jack (Jean), sister-in-law Iris, daughters Deb (Ray) and Sherry, granddaughters Alexis and Michaela, nieces Lori (Jim), Kris (Toni), and nephews Paul (Cathy), Chris (Judy), Mike (Jayne) and many cousins. Crawf was the son of Hiram and Vina and eldest of three brothers. His own father passed away when Crawf was just 16, making him the man of the family at a young age. Crawf was born in Winnipeg in 1924 but lived in both Calgary and Regina as a boy. In Calgary he developed a love for golf and skiing. Shortly after high school he joined the RCAF and was stationed in England with the 434 Squadron. He flew 29 missions in a Lancaster in the dangerous position of tail-gunner. Returning to Canada, Crawf worked for the CPR, and later VIA, in Passenger Services. He shepherded many Grey Cup trains to the east and ski trains to the west. Crawf was an avid duck hunter and outdoorsman, instilling a love of nature in his daughters and granddaughters. Crawf raised Labradors, his first and favourite was Jody. Crawf was active on the executive of both the MB Gun Dog Assoc. and the National Retriever Club of Canada. He and Carol travelled across Canada to attend national fieldtrial championships. Carol and Crawf loved to ski and had great times with their gang cross-country skiing around the province. They loved to dance to big band music. When he retired Crawf spent a lot of time gardening at the home he built for the family in the 1950s. Golfing and winters in Texas filled his days. The family thanks the kind nurses and staff on 3 North at Victoria Hospital. A service will be held at The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 21. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or the Salvation Army. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
