Date of Passing: Jul 14, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ROBERT MOFFATT 1958 - 2005 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bob) Moffatt on July 14, 2005 at 47 years of age. Left to mourn his loss is his soul mate, best friend and wife Liz; and his children, Regan, Andrea and Nicola. He is survived by his loving parents, Neil and Verna Moffatt; three sisters, Tannis (Lorne), Deb (Roger), Vanda (Greg); one brother Van (Debbie); and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn is Liz's mother Anne Gallie; brother Andrew Gallie; special relatives, David (Bev) Bonner, Paula Bonner (Daryl); and his second family at the CNR Signals and Communications department. Bob was a wonderful, kind generous man to his family, friends and coworkers. He always lent a helping hand wherever he thought there was a need, both in his personal life as well as his work life. The incredible optimism, enthusiasm and energy he had for life gave him the capability to appreciate every moment life had to offer. Bob was born and raised into a wonderful family. He had many fond memories of the farm at La Riviere as well as the time spent with his mom and dad, brother and sisters. In his teen years he played hockey and enjoyed his cars, motorcycles, weight-lifting and, of course, going to the odd party. He developed many long lasting friendships from high his school years. Immediately upon graduation from Nelly McClung School he hired on with CNR Signals and Communications. At the age of 20 he met Liz and they developed a close friendship that evolved into a wonderful marriage that produced three great children, two who have graduated from university and have pursued their own careers in Calgary, while one is still attending the University of Manitoba. Bob was a very devoted father and husband always putting his family first. He was always there to support them. Bob had an abundance of energy and always had many on going projects. He had a very successful 29 year career with CN and developed many close friendships with his colleagues. They became his second family. Bob spent his free time at the cottage with family and friends snowboarding, skiing, golfing, fishing, hiking, boating, visiting and working on his many projects around his cottage. He looked forward to the five o'clock cocktail hour with his Mr. fix-it buddy and friend Dave. The last few years he showed an incredible strength to fight a disease which only a few experience in such severity. He was a true fighter and had the courage to keep going. In his deepest, darkest moments he always wanted the best for his family. He wanted them to be happy. Bob, we will miss you but we know you are looking out for us and we will fulfil your wishes. We wish to express our gratitude to the compassionate family and friends who have touched our lives in ways we will never forget. We would also like to thank those people who have entered our lives in a time of crisis. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 22 at Fort Whyte Centre, 1961 McCreary Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fort Whyte Centre, 1961 McCreary Rd. It has only been in the last two years that I had the opportunity to meet Bob, the husband of an admired skier of my racing days; Liz Gallie. Bob was very approchable and well-giving...as if I'd known him all his life. Sit at his table and it was as if you had always been friends. I somewhat suffer from the same disorder and attempt to cope every day as Bob did. It is often difficult to be strong and strive to overcome. I wish the very best for Liz and her family at this time and for the future.Kelly Rose - Posted by: Kelly Rose (Acquaintance) on: Jul 28, 2005

When I saw Bob a few months ago I could see he was greatly affected by the tinnitus he was experiencing. Take comfort in the fact that he is now at peace and not experiencing this constant problem. It sounds like he was a wonderful man to you all. - Posted by: Kathryn Sawatzky (Co-Worker) on: Jul 21, 2005
