MICHAEL BRUCE COATES Accidentally, on Sunday, July 17, 2005 near Weyburn, SK, Michael Bruce Coates passed away at the age of 40 years. Michael leaves to cherish his memory his wife Barb; his daughters, Ashley and Chelsea; his stepdaughters, Martina and Jordan. He also leaves to mourn his brothers, Ken (Lee) and Brian (Zenith); his sisters, Nancy (David) Van Wyck and Kathy (Ralph) Turner, numerous nieces and nephews and his stepmother Elsie Coates. He was predeceased by his father Murray Coates in 2003 and by his mother Margaret Coates in 1993. Mike attended school at Roland Elementary and then at Carman Collegiate. Involved in the agricultural industry all of his life, he chose farming immediately after high school. During this time he got his pilots license and class 1 license, and was most recently employed with Agrotak. Mike was also the past president of the Manitoba Corn Growers Association and the Snowflies Snowmobile club. Mike was an avid sportsman through hockey, baseball, golf, snowmobiling, fishing and boating. His biggest joy of all was spending time with family and friends. His girls were the joy of his life. A memorial service will be held from the Carman United Church in Carman, MB on Friday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. A private family interment will take place prior to the service at Fairview Cemetery, Roland. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Carman Minor Hockey, P.O. Box 1451, Carman, MB R0G 0J0. Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.

  • My deepest condolences to the family of Bruce. I did not know him, but our family was deeply touched by this accident. Ken Evans, my nephew, is still in hospital, regaining his memory and healing bones. Baby Liam is alive and well.
