MICHAEL KEPRON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Kepron, aged 89, on July 17, 2005. He was predeceased by his sister Pauline Kepron. Michael is survived by Olga, his loving wife of 65 years; sons, Wayne (Leslie) and James (Dawne); daughter Catherine Lentz (Francois); sister Stephanie Macenko; brothers, Roy and Don; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Grampa will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Laurie, Scott, Craig, Christopher and Charis Kepron, Zoe Reimer and Vanessa and Viviane Lentz. Michael was born on October 11, 1915 in Winnipeg and married Olga October 21, 1939. Throughout his life, he frequently said that he felt blessed when Olga agreed to become his wife. From the start, their bond was a strong one, which continued to strengthen year by year. Following a short career in sales with Scott-Bathgate and after his discharge from the Royal Canadian Air Force at the end of the war, Michael decided to go into business for himself. Kepron's 8/16 mm Ltd., specializing in audio-visual equipment, thrived in Winnipeg for over 30 years. During that time Mike developed a host of personal and professional relationships, some of which survived to the time of his passing. During the 1960s, Michael became a dealer for Educational Developmental Laboratories Inc. (McGraw-Hill). In his capacity as dealer/consultant, he worked extensively with educators of children with various learning problems. This was a role that he found to be particularly gratifying. The expressions of appreciation that were routinely directed his way by grateful teachers and parents left no doubt that his efforts were greatly appreciated. Michael felt a strong tie to the community at large and to the Ukrainian community in particular. He took his membership in clubs very seriously, whether serving as a foot soldier or as a member of the executive committee. The organizations to which he devoted most of his time and energy included the Ukrainian Canadian Veterans Association-Branch 141, the West Kildonan Curling Club, the West Kildonan Horticultural Society, the National Audio-Visual Association, the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Businessmen's Club and the Sons of Ukrainian Pioneers. Michael was a special person who took pride in his family, his business and his community. He will be missed. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to two special friends. Prayers will be sung on Friday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with Fr. Alexandr Harkavyi officiating. Viewing will begin one hour prior to the commencement of prayers. Interment and reception will follow. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to a charity of choice.
