JOHN RICHARD SHELDON Peacefully in his sleep, John Sheldon, our beloved father and grandfather, passed away on July 19, 2005 at the Riverview Health Centre. John leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, his daughter BettyAnn (Richard); son John Rob (Barbara); and his loving grandchildren, Robert (Lisa), Jennifer, James and Daniel; his brothers, Edward (Eileen), Robert (Gloria); his best buddy Joe Zakaluk; and special friends, Joyce and Diane. John was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret; and his parents, Joseph and Annie. John was born in Ladywood, MB on September 30, 1927. He came to Winnipeg in 1940, holding various jobs before joining RCA Victor at the age of 15, retiring 45 years later in 1988. John was an avid and competitive sportsman, who loved fastball, slo pitch, curling, volleyball, golf and bowling. He also loved the outdoors with his gardening, blueberry picking and yearly hunting trips. John was a great cook, specializing in wild game, pies and his world famous krutchkies . In his last days, when asked what was his greatest accomplishment, John simply replied, My family . The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hope Holland, Amber and the rest of the compassionate staff at the Riverview Health Centre. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Rev. Mark Whitehead officiating. Service to terminate at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre, 3 East Palliative Care, in memory of John Sheldon. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
