Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN LEMKY Peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2005, John Lemky passed away at Concordia Hospital on his 87th birthday. He went to be with his dear Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, whom he loved and served. John was predeceased by his wife Sarah; his parents, Jacob and Elizabeth; and his brothers, Henry, Abraham, Jacob and Walter. John is survived by his sisters, Anne Lemky and Helen Hunt (Winnipeg); sister-in-law Jessie Lemky (Winnipeg), sister-in-law Florence Lemkay (Edmonton) and numerous nieces and nephews. John was born in Winnipegosis on July 18, 1918 and raised in rural areas of Manitoba. He spent much of his life in Winnipeg where he married Sarah in 1944. This was the beginning of his lifelong commitment of love and devotion to his beloved wife. They were married for 55 years and lived most of those years in Winnipeg, except for a period of time on a farm in Balmoral and in the Town of Stonewall. They moved back to Winnipeg in their senior years and John was by her side during her illness and remaining days in the hospital where she passed away in 1999. John's unwavering faith in God through a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ gave him the strength to sustain him during this time of grief and his own health problems. He had a strong prayer life and a love and concern for people. We know John is celebrating in heaven with Sarah and many friends and loved ones.
