JOSEPH DEDA January 6, 1918 - July 20, 2005 After a lengthy battle with cancer Joseph Deda passed away on July 20, 2005 at Riverview Health Centre with his wife Reine and a friend Irvine Hildebrand at his side. Joseph was born on January 6, 1918 in St. Claude, MB. He is survived by his wife of 60 years and seven months, Reine (nee Fouasse); son Michael and wife Shirley of Kelowna, BC; grandson Troy of Winnipeg; granddaughter Tara of Calgary. He also leaves his sisters, Doris Gibson of Medicine Hat, AB and Nancy Kirkpatrick of Vancouver, BC; his brother Peter and Beryl of Pincher Creek, AB; sisters-in-law, Cecile Tarko and Jeanne Fouasse of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes; many nieces and nephews...also much loved pets, Blackie, Kitty and Brownie (cats). He was predeceased by father Andrew; mother Aneilia Deda; sisters, Jessie, Anne, Betty; brothers-in-law, Harvey Amble, Hubert Edkins and Fred Kuly; father-in-law Julien Fouasse; mother-in-law Marie Fouasse; brothers-in-law, Maurice and Germain Fouasse, and Michael Tarko. Joseph farmed at Graysville, MB from 1944 to 1953, Carievale, SK from 1953 to 1958, Gainsborough, SK from 1958 to 1962, Elkhorn, MB from 1962 to 1969, McCreary, MB from 1969 to 1974, then on to Brandon from 1974 to 1977, retiring in Winnipeg in 1977. Joe was not happy in Winnipeg so he bought 160 acres in Vita, MB where he spent his weeks coming home only on weekends. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Funeral mass, with viewing prior at 12:30 p.m. will be held on Monday, July 25 at 1:00 p.m. in the Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens Roman Catholic Church, 289 Dussault Ave., with Fr. Marcel Toupin presiding. Interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The pallbearers will be Jim Holmes, Robert Rittwage, Roger and Joe Fouasse, Rene and Bertrand Tarko. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 (telephone number 787-4143).
